Chats with Tom!

Welcome to Chats with Tom! This is a segment in which Tom gets to talk more about the entertainment industry itself and the inner workings of it.

Today Tom talks about who he believes the bravest people on set are and the challenges that they face. Not only that, but he also touches on tricks that he uses with working with the talent.

“Having spent many years on both sides of the camera, I would say the bravest people on any set are the actor/talent.  For some, it’s an easy transition to work in front of a camera and crew. While some experience great anxiety - and then there’s everything in between.

I always remind our talent that the most important thing to have control over is your breathing.  If you’re anxious, your breath is likely higher, in the chest area. A performer wants to breath from their diaphragm. Which makes checking with your breath is key. Its imperative to remind your talent that taking small breaths at first, helps to work to lower where you’re breathing from.

Breathing correctly will help dissipate your anxiety and make you more present.  Being present, in the moment, will allow you to put your attention on the other actor.  And from that, that’s where the acting begins.”
